Excellent piece. While Dutton may preside over the further decline of the Liberal Party, the Labor Party is also in decline, not because of its lack of policies, but because like the Liberal Party, its election campaigns are funded to a large extent by the wealthy. It also refuses to do anything about the lies spread by Murdoch’s media; it seems fearful of them, which prevents any bold moves for a better future. In short, the main political parties are there to subvert democracy, not support it. I can only foresee an independent future, or no future.
Sue, (as a former Beaumaris boy and not complete idiot) I quite like Zoe as well - she's a good local member and deserves to be re-elected. But she's just one member out of 151 in the Reps.
As you've noted elsewhere, there are a total of 38 community independents running in 2025. But that's still just 38 out of 151.
I don't have the Senate numbers to hand, but I believe they're pretty similar, even though I find our own local Senator David Pocock to be a good local rep and the second best Pocock in the Senate.
But there will be 151 Greens candidates in the Reps and a full compliment of Senate candidates as well - backed by a solid national organisation and a comprehensive suite of coherent national policies covering all important issues at this election.
And the Greens were warning about climate change and fighting for better policies long before the community independents were even thought of. So it pays not to forget who's been in these trenches from the outset and who has managed to achieve the most real action from government to date.
I like and broadly support the community independents, despite the occasional element of guessing what you'll actually end up with. But let's not forget the full range of options on the field against the barely-adequate NeoLaboral Political Party and the actually-insane NeoLiberal (Hayekian-Friedmanite) Political Party.

Love it Sue!

Totally agree. You nailed it, too.
